Gay Key West
Aside from its natural beauty, Key West’s warm, come as you are atmosphere is one of the main reasons for the island’s popularity with gay and lesbian visitors. Key West is a safe and gay-friendly place to be open and relaxed, to make new friends, and be embraced by the small town’s live and let live philosophy. It¹s no wonder gay men and women feel more themselves on this subtropical island than anywhere else in the world that’s why many become permanent residents.

Key West’s Quirky Charm
By Aefa Mulholland
At the end of a 126-mile long highway that travels over 42 bridges, 100 islands and three National Historic Sites, Key West really is the end of the road. I was introduced to the singular charms of this lesbian and gay-adored resort town at a splendidly out-of-season Key West New Year party in Miami. Key West made a great first impression.

Key West: Florida's Anything Goes Gay Getaway
By Ed Walsh
While playing pool in the nude may get you thrown out of a bar in San Francisco, it doesn't raise an eyebrow in Key West. It's just part of another day in the live and let live vacation island paradise just 90 miles from Cuba.

Key West
By Peter Tatchell
Key West lies at the end of the world's longest dead end street - a 113-mile road that arcs southward from Miami into the heart of the tropical Caribbean. A tiny coral isle four miles square, it is the southernmost point in the USA, just 90 miles north of Cuba. Situated in the heart of the hurricane zone, somehow it survives against the all the odds. Perhaps that's part of its queer appeal.

Three straight couples say they were told to leave a Key West hotel because they are not gay, even though they were on vacation with a same-sex couple and all had reservations. The couples, all from the San Diego area, say they had checked in at Big Ruby's and were in their rooms when the manager knocked on their doors and said they would have to leave.

A Rainbow From Sea To Sea
By Fidel Ortega
It went on, and on, and on, stretching for as far as the eye could see, the largest Rainbow flag ever envisioned. For a mile and a quarter it fluttered along Duval Street in Key West, as 2,000 people strained to keep it from flying away.

Key West's Rainbow Flag from the Atlantic to the Gulf of Mexico
WE NEED YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS! 3,000 of them, to be exact. The unfurling of the Sea-to-Sea Rainbow25 Flag (sponsored by ABSOLUT VODKA) will require 2,000 to 3,000 people on Sunday, June 15, starting at 10:00 a.m. This event proclaims to the world that Key West is a welcoming, open community where people are free to be who they are. It is not just a "gay thing" -- it's about freedom of expression and the hope for a world that is not divided.
